Silver Charm         

Look at him now,
asleep, at peace in the pasture.
When he lowers his head,
the sun hits his mane like snow.

A lifetime of grace
in the bluegrass
has made him a monument
with a coat like the sky in reverse --
black specks of time
adorning his infinite body.
